  • Insulin-like Growth Factor Binding Protein-1 (IGFBP-1) is a 25–30 kDa secreted protein encoded by the Igfbp1 gene, predominantly expressed in the liver, decidua, and kidneys. As a critical regulator of the IGF axis, IGFBP-1 binds IGF-I and IGF-II with high affinity (Kd ~10⁻¹⁰ M), thereby modulating ligand bioavailability, half-life, and receptor interactions.

    IGFBP-1 in mouse models represents a critical nexus between growth regulation and metabolic homeostasis, with applications spanning developmental biology, metabolic disease modeling, cancer resistance mechanisms, and cardiovascular protection. Industrial applications focus on biomarker assay development, RGD-based peptide therapeutics, and combination strategies to overcome cancer drug resistance.

    • Measured by its ability to inhibit the biological activity of IGFII on MCF7 human breast adenocarcinoma cells. The EC50 for this effect is 15-25 ng/mL in the presence of 14 ng/mL human IGFII.
