Interleukin-13 (IL-13) is a pleiotropic type 2 cytokine discovered in 1993 as a product of activated T helper 2 (Th2) cells, crucial for orchestrating allergic inflammation and immune responses. Signals through a heterodimeric receptor complex comprising IL-13Rα1 and IL-4Rα (type II IL-4 receptor). IL-13 binds IL-13Rα1 with moderate affinity (KD = 30 nM), recruiting IL-4Rα to activate downstream pathways. Activation of JAK1 and JAK2/TYK2 tyrosine kinases, leading to STAT6 phosphorylation, dimerization, and nuclear translocation to regulate gene transcription.
生物活性
Measured in a cell proliferation assay using TF-1 human erythroleukemic cells. The EC50 for this effect is 1.0-1.8ng/mL.
