TGFB1 (Transforming Growth Factor Beta 1) is a multifunctional cytokine belonging to the TGF-β superfamily, playing crucial roles in cell proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis, and immune regulation. It is secreted by various cell types, including immune cells, and functions in both autocrine and paracrine signaling. TGFB1 is pivotal in wound healing, fibrosis, and maintaining tissue homeostasis, but its dysregulation is linked to cancer, autoimmune diseases, and fibrotic disorders. It signals through SMAD-dependent and non-SMAD pathways, modulating gene expression.
