The LAT1/CD98 complex is a heterodimeric, sodium-independent amino acid transporter composed of the catalytic light chain LAT1 (SLC7A5) and the heavy chain CD98 (4F2hc/SLC3A2), which acts as a chaperone to stabilize LAT1 and escort it to the plasma membrane where it exchanges large neutral amino acids such as leucine, phenylalanine and tryptophan to fuel mTORC1 signaling and support growth, particularly in tumors that overexpress the complex.

Flow cytometric analysis of LNCAP (Human prostate carcinoma epithelial cell, Left) / A549 (Human lung carcinoma epithelial cell, Right) labelling LAT1/CD98 antibody at 1/50 dilution (4 μg) / (Red) compared with a Mosue IgG1, κ (Black) Isotype Control. Goat Anti - Mouse IgG Alexa Fluor® 647 was used as the secondary antibody.
