c-Kit (CD117) is a receptor tyrosine kinase encoded by the c-kit gene. It plays a crucial role in the development and function of various cell types including hematopoietic cells, melanocytes, and gastrointestinal interstitial cells. The ligand for c-Kit is stem cell factor (SCF), and the binding of SCF to c-Kit activates intracellular signaling pathways that promote cell proliferation, survival, differentiation, and migration. Mutations or overexpression of c-Kit are associated with several diseases such as gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) and certain types of leukemia, making it an important target for therapeutic interventions.

Flow cytometric analysis of Mouse CD117 expression on C57BL/6 mouse bone marrow. C57BL/6 mouse bone marrow was stained with Brilliant Violet 421™ Rat Anti-Mouse Lineage Cocktail Antibody and either Alexa Fluor® 488 Rat IgG2b, κ Isotype Control (left panel) or SDT Alexa Fluor® 488 Rat Anti-Mouse CD117 Antibody (right panel) at 2 μl/test. Total viable cells, as determined by Fixable Viability Dye 583 (S0B88803), were used for analysis. Flow cytometry and data analysis were performed using Agilent NovoCyte Quanteon and FlowJo™ software.
