The CD45.2 protein is a receptor-type protein tyrosine phosphatase predominantly expressed on the surface of all nucleated hematopoietic cells in mice. It serves as a key genetic marker for distinguishing hematopoietic cell subsets in mice. As a common isoform of the CD45 antigen, CD45.2 participates in the transduction of T-cell and B-cell receptor signals by regulating the activity of Src family kinases. It plays a critical role in lymphocyte development, activation, and the establishment of immune tolerance. The allelic variation of its encoding gene, Ptprc, determines the difference between CD45.1 and CD45.2.
