CD29, also known as integrin beta-1 (ITGB1), is a ubiquitous transmembrane glycoprotein that functions as the common beta subunit for at least 12 distinct alpha-beta heterodimeric integrin receptors, playing a pivotal role in mediating cell adhesion to the extracellular matrix (ECM) components such as fibronectin, collagen, and laminin. By pairing with various alpha subunits (e.g., α1, α2, α3, α4, α5, α6), CD29 forms specific receptors that not only anchor cells to their surrounding environment but also transmit bidirectional signals across the plasma membrane, linking the ECM to the intracellular actin cytoskeleton via adaptor proteins like talin and vinculin to regulate critical cellular processes including migration, proliferation, differentiation, and survival. This protein is essential for embryonic development, tissue homeostasis, wound healing, and immune responses, while its dysregulation or aberrant expression is strongly implicated in pathological conditions such as cancer metastasis, fibrosis, and autoimmune disorders, making it a significant target for therapeutic intervention and a widely used marker for identifying mesenchymal stem cells and activated lymphocytes in research and clinical diagnostics.
流式分析
Flow cytometric analysis of Human CD29 expression on Human Peripheral Blood cells. Human Peripheral Blood cells were stained with Alexa Fluor® 647 Rat IgG1, k Isotype Control (left panel) or SDT Alexa Fluor® 647 Mouse Anti-Human CD29 Antibody (right panel) at 5 μl/test. Flow cytometry and data analysis were performed using Agilent NovoCyte Quanteon and FlowJo™ software.
