  • KIAA1522, also known as C16orf45 or Chromosome 16 Open Reading Frame 45, is a protein-coding gene located on the short arm of human chromosome 16 that encodes a largely uncharacterized protein whose precise physiological function and molecular mechanisms remain under investigation, although emerging bioinformatic analyses and limited experimental studies suggest it may play a role in cellular processes such as proliferation, apoptosis, or signal transduction, with some evidence linking its dysregulation to certain pathological conditions including cancers, where altered expression levels have been observed, thereby highlighting its potential significance as a biomarker or therapeutic target despite the current lack of comprehensive structural characterization and definitive functional annotation in major biological databases.
