CD122, also known as the interleukin-2 receptor beta (IL-2Rβ), is a key component of the IL-2 receptor complex and plays a crucial role in regulating immune responses. It is expressed on the surface of various immune cells, including T cells and natural killer (NK) cells. CD122 is involved in mediating the effects of IL-2, which is essential for the proliferation and differentiation of T cells, as well as the maintenance of regulatory T cells (Tregs). Recent studies have shown that targeting CD122 with selective IL-2 complexes can reduce immunosuppression by Tregs and enhance antitumor immunity, making it a promising target for cancer immunotherapy.
