背景介绍
  • ADAMTS14 is a secreted 1223-amino-acid member of the ADAMTS zinc metalloproteinase family that processes extracellular matrix components, displaying the signature architecture of a signal peptide, prodomain, peptidase M12B catalytic domain, disintegrin-like module, cysteine-rich spacer and four thrombospondin type-1 repeats followed by a PLAC domain; it is expressed in placenta, retina, lung and brain, cleaves the N-terminal propeptide of type I procollagen to facilitate collagen fibril formation, modulates TGF-β signaling and mesenchymal cell behavior, and genetically or expressionally altered ADAMTS14 has been linked to osteoarthritis, intervertebral disc degeneration, cancer progression, cardiovascular remodeling and pulmonary fibrosis.
