  • G3BP2 (Ras-GTPase-activating protein-binding protein 2) is a multifunctional RNA-binding scaffold protein that, through its NTF2, acidic, proline-rich, RRM and RGG domains, nucleates stress-granule assembly by forming homo- and hetero-oligomers with G3BP1, sequestering untranslated mRNPs in the cytoplasm during stress, while also regulating RNA stability (e.g., CDK7, CDK9, c-Myc), controlling nuclear-cytoplasmic shuttling of transcription factors such as NF-κB, TWIST1 and p53, and thereby influencing cell proliferation, epithelial-mesenchymal transition, viral infection, lipogenesis and neuronal viability in a context-dependent manner.
