  • HINT1 (histidine triad nucleotide-binding protein 1) is a ubiquitously expressed, 13.7 kDa zinc-binding homodimeric enzyme that hydrolyzes purine nucleotide phosphoramidates via a double-displacement mechanism while acting as a multifunctional scaffold; it couples μ-opioid and NMDA receptors to tune analgesia and addiction behavior, suppresses tumorigenesis by inhibiting MITF and β-catenin, and its loss-of-function mutations cause autosomal recessive axonal neuropathy with neuromyotonia, making it a key player in neuropsychiatric disorders, pain regulation, and cancer.

Nuclei were counterstained with DAPI (Blue). Counterstain with tubulin (Red).
