背景介绍

  • Interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β) is a pro-inflammatory cytokine that plays a crucial role in the immune response. It is produced by various cell types, including macrophages and monocytes, in response to infections or tissue injury. IL-1β helps to initiate and amplify the inflammatory response by promoting the expression of other inflammatory mediators and recruiting immune cells to the site of infection or damage. It also has effects on a wide range of physiological processes, such as fever induction, modulation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis, and regulation of metabolism. Dysregulation of IL-1β has been implicated in numerous chronic inflammatory diseases, like rheumatoid arthritis and inflammatory bowel disease, making it an important target for therapeutic interventions.
