Caspase-8 (Asp374) is the activated form of human caspase-8 that has been proteolytically processed after Asp-374, yielding the p18 large catalytic subunit. This cleavage occurs within the DISC (death-inducing signaling complex) and represents a key activation step that converts the 55 kDa procaspase-8 zymogen into the mature, fully active heterotetrameric protease capable of triggering apoptosis and modulating necroptosis.
