  • NSUN2 (NOP2/Sun domain family member 2) is a crucial RNA methyltransferase enzyme responsible for catalyzing the 5-methylcytosine (m5C) modification on various RNA species, including tRNAs, mRNAs, and rRNAs. As a key epitranscriptomic regulator, it plays an essential role in post-transcriptional gene expression by influencing RNA stability, nuclear export, and translation efficiency. Furthermore, NSUN2 is deeply involved in fundamental biological processes such as cell proliferation, stem cell differentiation, and development, while its dysregulation is frequently associated with the initiation and progression of various cancers.
