Thy-1 or CD90 (Cluster of Differentiation 90) is a ~25–37 kDa heavily N-glycosylated, glycophosphatidylinositol (GPI) anchored conserved cell surface protein with a single V-like immunoglobulin domain, originally discovered as a thymocyte antigen. Thy-1 can be used as a marker for a variety of stem cells and for the axonal processes of mature neurons. Structural study of Thy-1 led to the foundation of the Immunoglobulin superfamily, of which it is the smallest member, and led to some of the initial biochemical description and characterization of a vertebrate GPI anchor and also the first demonstration of tissue specific differential glycosylation.

Flow cytometric analysis of CD90 expression on human PBMC (human peripheral blood mononuclear cells). Human peripheral blood mononuclear cells were stained with Brilliant Violet 421™ Mouse Anti-Human CD34 antibody and either Alexa Fluor® 488 Mouse IgG1 Isotype Control (Left panel) or SDT Alexa Fluor® 488 Mouse Anti-Human CD90 antibody (Right panel) at 1.25 μl/test. Flow cytometry and data analysis were performed using BD FACSymphony™ A1 and FlowJo™ software.
Flow cytometric analysis of CD90 expression on Rhesus monkey peripheral blood cells. Rhesus macaque peripheral blood cells were stained with Alexa Fluor® 488 Mouse IgG1 Isotype Control (left panel) or SDT Alexa Fluor® 488 Mouse Anti- Human CD90 Antibody (right panel) at 1.25 μl/test. Flow cytometry and data analysis were performed using Agilent NovoCyte Quanteon and FlowJo™ software.

Flow cytometry and data analysis were performed using Agilent NovoCyte Quanteon and FlowJo™ software.
