Human IgM is the first type of antibody produced by the body in response to an initial exposure to an antigen. It is a large, pentameric molecule, composed of five identical Y-shaped units linked together. Each IgM molecule has ten antigen-binding sites, which allows it to be highly effective at agglutinating pathogens. IgM is primarily found in the bloodstream and plays a crucial role in the early stages of the immune response. It can activate the complement system, enhancing the ability to eliminate pathogens. Additionally, the presence of IgM antibodies in diagnostic tests often indicates a recent infection, as it appears earlier than other types of antibodies like IgG.
流式分析
Flow cytometric analysis of Human IgM expression on Human Peripheral Blood cells. Human Peripheral Blood cells labelling Human IgM antibody at 1:200 (1 μg) dilution (Right panel) compared with a Mouse IgG1, κ Isotype Control (Left panel). Goat Anti-Mouse IgG Alexa Fluor® 488 was used as the secondary antibody. Then cells were stained with CD19 - Brilliant Violet 421™ antibody separately.
