The follicle-stimulating hormone receptor (FSHR) is a 695-amino-acid, seven-transmembrane G-protein-coupled receptor expressed primarily on granulosa and Sertoli cells; upon binding FSH it activates the Gs/adenylyl cyclase/cAMP/PKA cascade to regulate steroidogenesis, gametogenesis, and reproductive tract differentiation, with naturally occurring activating or inactivating mutations causing disorders such as ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome or hypergonadotropic hypogonadism, and its extracellular domain being the target of modern infertility therapies and male contraceptive development.

Counterstained with hematoxylin. Heat mediated antigen retrieval with Tris/EDTA buffer pH9.0 was performed before commencing with IHC staining protocol.
