Mast cells (MCs) are tissue effector cells that participate in several physiologic and pathologic processes such as innate immunity, immunomodulation, allergy, autoimmunity, and neuroinflammation. Upon activation, MCs release preformed molecules stored in secretory granules, newly synthetized mediators, and several cytokines. Tryptase is the major neutral protease present in mast cells and is secreted upon the coupled activation-degranulation response of this cell type. May play a role in innate immunity.

IHC shows positive staining in paraffin-embedded human colon. Anti-TPSAB1 antibody was used at 1/1000 dilution, followed by a HRP Polymer for Mouse & Rabbit IgG (ready to use). Counterstained with hematoxylin. Heat mediated antigen retrieval with Tris/EDTA buffer pH9.0 was performed before commencing with IHC staining protocol.
