Natural Cytotoxicity Triggering Receptor 1 (NCR1), also known as CD335 or NKp46, is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein primarily expressed on the surface of natural killer (NK) cells and a subset of innate lymphoid cells. It serves as a pivotal activating receptor crucial for innate immune responses. As a member of the Natural Cytotoxicity Receptor (NCR) family, CD335 plays a key role in target cell recognition and the subsequent cytolytic activity against virus-infected and tumor cells. Its engagement triggers the release of cytotoxic granules and inflammatory cytokines, making it essential for early defense mechanisms. The receptor is considered a specific marker for NK cell identification in humans and other species.
