GFRAL is a receptor primarily expressed in the hindbrain and binds to the hormone GDF15. It plays a key role in metabolic regulation, mediating appetite suppression and body weight control in response to stress, inflammation, or disease. GFRAL activation triggers downstream signaling through the RET coreceptor, influencing energy homeostasis. Its association with GDF15 has made it a potential therapeutic target for obesity and metabolic disorders.
