背景介绍
  • Neuronal Pentraxin 2 (NPTX2) is a secreted synaptic protein primarily expressed in the central nervous system, mediating synaptic formation, remodeling and excitatory synapse clustering. Detection of NPTX2 carries important research and diagnostic implications for neurodegenerative disorders, neuroinflammation and cognitive impairment.

NPTX2 participates in glutamate receptor recruitment and synaptic plasticity. Its expression level changes reflect neuronal injury and synaptic loss. Reduced NPTX2 in cerebrospinal fluid or brain tissue is strongly associated with Alzheimer’s disease, frontotemporal dementia and Parkinson’s disease dementia. Measurement of NPTX2 helps differentiate dementia subtypes, evaluate synaptic damage severity and predict cognitive decline progression. Apart from neurodegeneration, altered NPTX2 is also observed in epilepsy, brain trauma and neurodevelopmental diseases, indicating broad involvement in central nervous system homeostasis.

In translational research, NPTX2 serves as a promising synaptic biomarker. Quantitative detection enables preclinical model evaluation, patient stratification and monitoring of therapeutic responses for neuroprotective treatments. Unlike markers merely reflecting neuronal death, NPTX2 specifically mirrors synaptic integrity, which is closely linked to functional cognitive status. As a valuable complement to existing neuro-biomarker panels, NPTX2 assay facilitates mechanistic studies of synaptic dysfunction and accelerates the development of targeted interventions for neurological diseases.
